About

Back Roads Readings is a project founded in 2013 to offer poetry and prose readings to audience members in the Northeast corner of Vermont and the Eastern Townships of Quebec.

Director and founder Lisa von Kann is assisted by a distinguished  Advisory Board  that includes Bobbie Bristol, Kim Crady-Smith, Peggy Day Gibson, Reeve Lindbergh,  and Claire Van Vliet.

Readings take place in the tiny Northeast Kingdom village of Brownington, home to the remarkable Old Stone House Museum, its restored buildings and grounds.

“I am delighted to join with the Old Stone House Museum and add author events to the rich cultural and community programs they already offer,” says von Kann.  “The elegance of the historic village of Brownington and the stunning countryside inspired the name of the series – truly getting there along the country lanes leading to Brownington will be half the fun!”
